Adjudication Training for the Fall

2022-07-06

USBands commitment to adjudicator training hits full stride in the month of July with several in-person training sessions in the Mid-Atlantic and New England and a special gathering in Texas.

Adjudication has been at the core of the rejuvenation of USBands as an organization committed to the best service possible to all band programs, no matter their level of achievement.

We are dedicated to the professional development of our current roster of adjudicators, while also deepening the pool of talent; from experienced nationally-recognized panelists to welcoming new individuals with diverse perspectives that reflect where the activity is presently, and more importantly, where it is headed in the future.

Led by Shirley Dorritie and Eric Kitchenman, four in-person training sessions have been scheduled over 10 days between July 28 and August 6.

July 28 – West Chester University, West Chester, PA in conjunction with the Incomparable Marching Band Workshop

July 30 – Hampton Inn - Enfield, CT

August 2 – Annapolis, MD in conjunction with DCI Annapolis Presented by USBands at Navy & Marine Corps Stadium

August 6 – Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA in conjunction with DCI Eastern Classic at J. Birney Crum Stadium

Additionally, Eric Kitchenman will be hosting a meeting for current and prospective adjudicators in Texas at the Texas Bandmasters Association conference in San Antonio on July 22.

Training for the 2022 USBands season began earlier in June with a webinar for new and returning adjudicators on June 22 as the team reviewed the criteria and construct of the sheets for the music and percussion captions to provide even more meaningful and actionable commentary for directors, instructors and designers to assist in the development of their student-performers.

As with all training sessions, the content is recorded and provided to all confirmed adjudicators for future reference to be accessed on demand via secure platforms.
