W L Whaley is the former Director of Bands at Pomona High School, Arvada, Colorado. He is currently the Executive Director of AdvantEdge Tours LLC and Chief Judge for the Colorado Bandmasters Association. He serves as a clinician, consultant, designer, and adjudicator throughout the United States. He has adjudicated for DCI, WGI, BOA, and numerous state associations.

Mr. Whaley has been selected into the Colorado Music Educators “Hall of Fame, the Colorado Bandmasters Association “Hall of Fame” and Phi Beta Mu “Most Outstanding Band Director.

Under his direction, The Pomona High School Instrumental Music program was recognized as one of the superior programs in Colorado and the country. The Pomona Marching Band was the Colorado Bandmasters Association Class 5A State Champion 11 times in 12 years. The Pomona Band is a past Bands of America Grand National Finalist(5th) and semi-finalist. The Pomona Symphonic Band was a ColoradoMEA Honor Band for 2000, 2003 and 2006 performing at the State Clinic/Conference held at the Broadmoor Hotel and Convention Center in Colorado Springs. The Band has performed twice in the prestigious Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California in 1996 and 2005 and the London New Years Day Parade in 2001 and 2006.
