Trent Newton is a resident of Murrieta, in southern California. A graduate of Cal State University, Long Beach; holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master’s in Education, Pupil Personnel Services from Azusa Pacific University. He is currently director of bands in Murrieta Valley Unified School District. Prior to Mr. Newton’s position in Murrieta Valley USD, he was director of bands at Valley View H.S. in Moreno Valley from 1990-2001. His ensembles performed at both local and national levels, competing among the strongest programs in the country. His HS and MS Wind Ensembles/Advanced Bands have captured consistent Superior ratings. As a clinician throughout southern California and marching band adjudicator across the United States, Mr. Newton also adjudicates in his home area for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, where he was honored with the Outstanding Field Adjudicator Award for 2019. In 1991, he was Moreno Valley USD’s nominee to California for the “Sally Mae First-Year Teacher-of-the-Year” award and the 2006-2007 Murrieta Valley USD representative to Riverside County for Teacher of the Year. In both 1994 and 2000 he was the recipient of the School Board’s “Distinguished Leadership Award”. Mr. Newton began his adjudication career in 1995and also holds memberships in SCSBOA, MENC, CMEA and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Trent Newton is a proud husband of Dana, a 3rd grade teacher and two sons ages 29 and 26. Beside Music Education and the marching activity, Mr. Newton is PASSIONATE about the outdoors and often enjoys time with his family RV camping whenever and wherever possible!
